A complete metal replacement for the artillery of a model of the Austro-Hungarian battleship in 1:350 scale. It is not a kit but a set of turned parts: according to the name of the product, twelve barrels of 305 mm caliber, twelve barrels of 150 mm caliber and eighteen barrels of 70 mm caliber. The set is cut for the Combrig kit; the manufacturer also makes a variant with the same contents for a different kit, so it is worth watching which version you are buying.
The Viribus Unitis carried her heavy artillery in four triple turrets. Twelve barrels of one caliber means that any unevenness is immediately apparent on a model: it is enough for one barrel to sit half a millimeter further out and the turret looks crooked. Turned barrels are all of the same length, diameter and muzzle shape, so the spacing and the projection line up by themselves. On the 70 mm caliber, where the barrel is only a short peg, a drilled bore is essentially the only way to give the part conviction in scale.
Sort the parts of the three calibers beforehand and do not work over an open table; the tiny barrels are light and will be lost if they fall. Cut off the plastic barrels and open out the holes in the turrets and casemates to the diameter of the shank. Glue with gel grade cyanoacrylate, which can be dosed with the tip of a pin. Degrease the metal with alcohol, then a primer for metal, and only then the paint. Darken the muzzles by oxidation; on a ship with pronounced weathering that follows on from the wash in the recesses better than solid black.
The set is an accessory to a model, not a standalone kit. The ship model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
