Drapes for an open interior, 1:35 scale

Motifs of household drapes in 1:35 scale. They come into their own above all where the viewer is to see into a room from above or through a missing wall, that is in an open interior.

How to match a drape with the rest of a room

In an open room a drape is one of the few color surfaces that stand vertically, and it therefore draws the attention before the furniture does. It pays to choose it according to what is already in the scene: a calmer drape suits a striking wallpaper and the other way round. A simple rule also helps, that there should be only one richest color in a room. When the drape takes it, the rest of the furnishings keep to muted tones and the scene stays readable.

A procedure that has proved itself

• Fit the drape before you put the furniture and the figures into the room.
• Offer the piece up dry and stand a figure beside it; only then judge the size of the pattern.
• Look into the window from the viewing direction of the display case, not straight down from above.
• Even the sheen out with a matte varnish at the end, as a printed surface reflects light differently from its surroundings.
• Try the glue and the varnish on an offcut first and go by the manufacturer's instructions.

Who the set is for

For builders of interior scenes in 1:35 scale who work with an open room and want to finish the windows off as thoroughly as the furniture. The building, the furniture, the figures, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
