1:35 Arabic Middle Eastern Tiles Patterns

1:35 Arabic Middle Eastern Tiles Patterns, oriental tiling for a 1:35 scene

This set offers Arabic and Middle Eastern tiling patterns as a ready surface for dioramas in 1:35 size. It is not a kit of a building but a decor that is laid onto an area already built: a floor, a wall, a plinth or the facing of a fountain. The scale is given in the name of the item.

Where a geometric pattern will tell

Oriental tiling is unmistakable and sets a scene at once into a particular part of the world. The courtyard of a house, the entrance to a mosque, a bazaar, a bathhouse, a shaded arcaded passage, the facing around a fountain or the panel between columns: in all of these a regular geometry works both as scenery and as a guide to scale. In a military scene a strong contrast also arises between the fine ornamental pattern and a vehicle dusty from a desert road.

Recommendations for laying it

A geometric grid is merciless to inaccuracy, so make your cuts along the axes of the pattern, not along the edge of the area. In the corner of a room follow on so that the lines meet, even at the cost of a narrower strip on the less visible side. It pays to lay the ornamental bands out so that they lead the eye to the main figure. The strength of the color can be muted with dust along the ground, while the area at eye level should be left clean, as that is where the viewer notices it most.

Who the decor is for

• Builders of Middle Eastern and North African scenes in 1:35 size
• Modelers who want a striking ornament in a scene without painting it by hand
• Those interested in the contrast of ornate architecture and dusty vehicles
• Those building a courtyard, a bazaar or an arcaded interior

The goods serve to face areas that are already finished. You will not find building materials, figures or means for weathering in the package, unless stated otherwise.
