1:24 Russian MRE Rations Cartons

Cartons of Russian combat rations 1:24 (ETA diorama)

This diorama accessory from the maker ETA diorama in 1:24 scale represents cartons of Russian combat rations. It is not a kit but small equipment for a scene that tells of support and supply. It is precisely such objects that tell an empty vignette apart from a situation a viewer believes in, because they show that everyday life goes on in it.

Where you will use the accessory

• A dump of supplies by a field kitchen, a tent or a command post.
• A load on a bed, on the roof of a vehicle or on a trailer.
• Small things by a resting crew and around an improvised table.
• Discarded packaging in an area where a unit has stayed for some time.

How to work with it

The cartons look best when they do not form a neat pile: lay one at an angle, leave a second half open and prop a third against a box. Sharp edges prevent the impression of paper, so chamfer the corners gently and add finger marks where they are picked up. A subdued dark coat in the recesses returns depth to the printing and evens the light shades out. They fit into Russian and post-Soviet scenes, where they go together with jerrycans, boxes and supply bags.

Who the accessory is for

For builders of modern dioramas with Russian vehicles and figures who want to complete a scene with credible supplies of the matching size.

The accessory is supplied as equipment for a scene, not as a model. Obtain paints and glue separately, unless stated otherwise.
