Vacuum-formed parts for the Kawasaki Ninja H2R 1:12 from Decalcas: thin-walled formed parts for a motorcycle model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of parts made by vacuum forming for a 1:12 model of the Kawasaki Ninja H2R motorcycle. In vacuum forming a heated plastic sheet is drawn onto a mold, which gives a part with a wall so thin that injection molding cannot match it. That is exactly why fairing panels, covers and thin surfaces are made this way, the ones where the thickness of the material shows on a finished model at first glance.
The Ninja H2R is the circuit version of the Japanese brand's supercharged four, that is a machine meant for use away from public roads. The supercharger and the extensive aerodynamic winglets made it one of the most extreme series-built motorcycles ever, and at the same time a machine on which the thin-walled covers and panels are a prominent part of the look.
Vacuum-formed parts are cut out of the sheet, not cut off a sprue. Trace the outline with a fine marker, cut roughly to shape with scissors and sand the rest down on abrasive paper laid on a flat surface until the part fits exactly. Work in small steps and check often, because you can always take material away but never add it. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, on clear parts with the smallest possible amount and preferably in gel form, so that the fumes leave no white haze. Paint clear surfaces from the outside only and mask them carefully.
The set is an accessory, not a kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
