806 Grand Prix Red is a modeling shade of the Italian racing red of the late 1920s, named after the Fiat 806 grand prix single-seater from Turin.
Responsibility details are not available.
The 806 Grand Prix Red shade comes from the Italian racing red as it looked at the turn of the 1920s and 1930s: deeper and calmer than today's production paints, with a muted highlight on the small surfaces of hand-beaten sheet metal. On a model the red breaks up into several smaller fields, because the narrow body of the real subject is divided by the edges of the bodywork and by an exposed chassis.
The Fiat 806 Grand Prix was the last racing single-seater of the Turin brand. It was created for the 1927 season, powered by a supercharged twelve-cylinder of one and a half liters in swept volume, and it made the start just once, at the Milan Grand Prix on the circuit at Monza, which Pietro Bordino won. Fiat closed its racing program immediately afterwards, so what remained of the car was a single start and a single victory. It is precisely this history of one race that makes it a rewarding subject for collectors of interwar machinery.
It will be appreciated by modelers of historic racing cars who do not want to reach for a universal bright red and are looking for a tone matching the era of canvas overalls and uncovered wheels. It will also serve well when adding to a collection of prewar single-seaters in progress, where a new addition is meant to follow on in color from the pieces already finished.
