9X8 Grey is a gray shade from the Number Five line, tied to the Peugeot 9X8 prototype. Gray is the main body surface on this subject, and standing in contrast with it is the sharply vivid green the car carries on its edges and in its graphics.
The Peugeot 9X8 was presented in 2022 and immediately drew attention by what it lacked: the first specification of the car had no rear wing, which is an absolute exception on a modern endurance prototype. Downforce was handled by the shaped underside and the tail. Later the car received a revised form and the wing took something from the original cleanness of its silhouette. That is exactly why with a model of the 9X8 the game is about the surface: without a wing the eye has nothing to catch on and every ripple in the paint is visible on a large continuous area.
The paint will be put to use by builders of present-day racing prototypes and by modelers who need a darker neutral gray without a pronounced blue or brown cast. It will also be used where gray serves as an intermediate step between black and light surfaces, as on models of machinery that is one of the most frequently reached-for tones of all. A gray surface also takes weathering well, because even fine dust and traces of rain stay visible on it.
