A polishing paste of medium coarseness from the modeling chemistry of the Number Five brand. It is not a paint or a varnish but an abrasive preparation with which the surface of an already cured coat is brought to its final state. The word Medium in the name sets its position on the scale of coarseness: the paste cuts more than the finishing grades that bring out the final depth of gloss, but is finer than the coarse pastes meant for the first leveling of a surface.
A sprayed coat never dries perfectly smooth. There remains on it a fine orange peel structure, a settled grain of dust or a noticeable transition between layers. The paste levels these microscopic irregularities and returns an even reflection to the surface. On the body of a car model, where the curve of the reflection runs across the whole flank, polishing is exactly the step after which the model begins to act as a scaled-down automobile and not as a painted piece of plastic.
For modelers who build automobiles, motorcycles or anything with a glossy body and want to take the surface beyond the level that spraying alone will give. On matte surfaces of military vehicles and on figures it has no point.
Keep the preparation out of the reach of children and protect your eyes while working.
