Dual Exo 4B Faded Orange, acrylic paint, 60 ml

An AK interactive acrylic paint from the Dual Exo range in a 60 ml container. The name of the shade, Faded Orange, refers to an orange tone, and the coat has a satin, that is semi-gloss, finish.

Masking and painting over

A satin finish is more rewarding to mask than a flat one. Masking tape holds on it, but at the same time paint gets under it less easily, so the edges come out sharper. There is only one condition: let the coat cure thoroughly, not just dry to the touch. Fresh acrylic comes away with the tape. Then pull the tape off slowly, at a shallow angle and toward yourself. If you want to work further over the paint, that is to apply decals, a wash or another shade, a semi-gloss is a good base, because a decal will not silver on it and a wash runs well into the engraving over it.

Use

• Shake the paint thoroughly before use.
• Apply in thin coats with a brush or an airbrush.
• Let the coat cure fully before masking, not just dry to the touch.
• Pull the masking tape off slowly and at a shallow angle.
• Decals and washes lay down well on a satin finish.
