Number Five Thinner 30 ml

A solvent-based auxiliary product in a 30 ml bottle. It is used to fine-tune the viscosity of Number Five paints for an airbrush and to flush out tools. It is not an opaque paint and not a shade.

What it is suited to

The paints of this range are filled at a consistency for direct spraying, and yet it pays to have the thinner at hand. After partial evaporation in an open bottle the paint thickens, fine detail and low pressures call for a thinner mixture, and for a soft transition when shading a heavily thinned paint is what is wanted. The brand's own thinner is the guarantee that the mixture will neither cloud nor curdle, which is a risk when mixing with chemistry from elsewhere. It is also useful before a longer break in work, when a drop of thinner in the airbrush cup keeps the paint liquid and stops it drying around the needle.

How to use it

• Add it drop by drop and keep testing the spray, not the whole dose at once.
• Write the ratio down; you will want the same mixture for the next body.
• Mix outside the paint bottle, in a cup or directly in the airbrush cup.
• It also serves to flush out an airbrush and to wash brushes after working with this range.
• Close the bottle immediately after pouring, as the solvent evaporates quickly.
