Plastic pipettes of 3 ml with printed graduations along the whole length of the body. They serve to draw up and measure out paint, thinner or hardener precisely, without having to pour from bottle to bottle.

Where they pay off

Estimating by eye works until you need to repeat a mix. As soon as you run out of paint halfway through a body, or you want to spray the same ratio onto parts that are painted separately, measuring is what decides. The graduations on a pipette let you write the ratio down in parts and put it together again even weeks later. With two-component varnishes, where the hardener is dosed in proportion to the varnish, accuracy is in fact a condition of proper curing. A ratio that is not kept also shows up only later: the varnish either stays soft and cannot be polished, or else it goes brittle and breaks at the edges during sanding.

How to use them

• Squeeze the bulb, draw the liquid up and read the level against the light.
• Write the ratio down in parts, not in drops, as drops vary in size.
• Always use a separate pipette for paint, thinner and hardener.
• Flush them out after work, or treat them as disposable.
• Keep the bulb squeezed while the tip is in the liquid, or you will draw in air.
