About product

Colored printed interior in 1:72 for the AV-8A early (Quinta Studio)

This item is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for the cockpit. The name states that these are printed, colored interior elements carried on decal paper for the early version of the AV-8A attack aircraft in 1:72 scale. The elements are taken off the sheet just like an ordinary decal and settled onto the surfaces of the pilot's compartment, where they replace flat engraving and save lengthy painting of tiny dials. It is based on the dimensions of the Airfix kit.

The real subject

Under the AV-8A designation the US Marine Corps introduced the British V/STOL attack aircraft, the Harrier, in the 1970s. Its swiveling nozzles allowed it to take off from a very short run and from the deck of amphibious ships and to operate away from conventional airfields. The early machines had a differently equipped cockpit from the later modifications, and it is precisely this state that this variant of the set is tied to.

How to use the set

First level the surface, paint it in the darker tone of the cockpit and go over it with a gloss clear coat, as the element will not hold on a matte surface. Cut the sheet close to the outline of the element so that no visible edge of the carrier film stays behind once dry. Do not use a decal softener or a setting solution, and press the element down with a cotton swab so that it follows the floor and the side walls. Finally unify the whole with a matte varnish.

Who the set is for

  • Modelers who want a legible cockpit even in a small scale, without painting the individual instruments
  • Builders of the early version intended for the Marine Corps
  • Anyone interested in a quick increase in detail without cutting into the plastic
  • Collectors of V/STOL combat aircraft

FAQ

No, this is purely an interior accessory. The aircraft itself has to come from another kit.

Once soaked, they slide off the backing and are pressed onto a degreased surface, just like a decal.

The cockpit equipment differed between the early and the later machines, so the set is tied to one state.

For the Airfix kit in 1:72 scale. The base kit is not included in the package.
