The Harrier AV-8A, GR.1/GR.3 BASIC Kabuki Masks 1:48 set from New Ware - the basic level of pre-cut masks for masking glazing while spraying. The cut is based on the parts of the Kinetic kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A basic masking set for models of the first-generation Harrier, the AV-8A and GR.1/GR.3 versions in 1:48 scale. It is neither a kit nor a part that stays on the model: the masks are stuck onto a clear part, the paint is sprayed over them and once it is dry they are taken off. BASIC is the lowest of several levels that the manufacturer issues for this type.
Wash the clear part in lukewarm water with a little dish soap and let it dry completely - on a greasy surface a mask will not hold. Peel a mask off the sheet with the tip of a knife, carry it over with tweezers and press it down with a soft tool around the whole perimeter. Spray a thin layer of base color, which seals the edge, then the interior shade of the cockpit and finally the outer camouflage. Once dry, take the masks off with a pull at an angle. Kabuki paper usually leaves no adhesive residue, but polish the glazing with a soft cloth at the end all the same.
On the glazing of the Harrier, cutting by hand from masking tape means a series of small cuts made directly on the clear part. Every slip of the knife is a permanent score that neither varnish nor polishing can hide entirely. A pre-cut set leaves that step out and at the same time guarantees that all the frames will be the same.
The set is cut for a particular kit of the type in question. The paints, the thinner and the model are not included in the package.
