A Decalcas set with markings for a model of the compact Mercedes 190E in the 2.3 16v version with the year 1984. The sheet is an accessory for a modeler who has the corresponding car in 1:24 scale and wants to build it in its period sporting form, not as a civilian sedan.
The 2.3-16 version was the sharp peak of the compact range: under the hood worked a four-cylinder with a sixteen-valve head, the body was completed by widened sills and a pronounced rear downforce element, and the chassis was given a harder setup. It is precisely the year given in the name that is firmly bound up with this car — in 1984 a line-up of resounding motorsport names met in identically prepared 190E 2.3-16 cars at a German circuit in a one-off race, which made the type's name right at the beginning of its career. The car then became the long-standing basis of touring car specials.
On cars from a single-specification grid the markings consist predominantly of numbers and symmetrically placed lettering. Before you let the first side dry, transfer the same motif onto the other one as well and compare both sides by looking from the front and from the rear; an asymmetry is corrected only with difficulty in a finished model. Small corrections are possible as long as it is damp under the film.
