An unassembled plastic kit of an early jet fighter in 1:72 scale. Special Hobby is a Czech brand, and its aircraft models tend to be aimed at the less common types and versions that the large manufacturers do not cover. The number of parts, the presence of resin or photo-etched parts and the number of marking options are stated by the manufacturer on the box.
The Gloster Meteor was the first British jet fighter to reach series production. The Mk.4 version, also given as the F.4, is postwar: compared with the earlier batches it received more powerful engines and a revised airframe, and on some machines a shortened wingspan. The type is characterized by its twin-engine layout with the powerplants built into nacelles on the wing, and by its nose landing gear.
Test fit every part dry first. On models from smaller European manufacturers the locating pins and sockets tend to be only suggested, so it pays to think the position of the parts through and, if need be, to help yourself with a piece of plastic profile. Because of the nose landing gear, count on weight in the front of the fuselage: without it the model will sit down on its tail and there is no fixing that afterwards. The join of the wing nacelles into the wing is the most visible spot on a Meteor, so fill and sand the seams carefully. Mask the cockpit and fit it only after spraying. If you are going to build a bare metal finish, level the base all the more carefully by sanding, because a metallic finish brings out every scratch. Lay the decals onto a gloss coat and at the end spray the whole model with a matte or semi-gloss coat, depending on the scheme chosen.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
