Top Studio 1.0 mm Translucent Tube

A translucent tube of 1.0 mm outside diameter from the Japanese brand Top Studio, supplied on a 2 meter roll. It is neither a kit nor a finished part: it is a raw material for detailing, from which you cut the lengths you need yourself and run them across the model.

The designation Translucent means translucent, not transparent: light passes through the tube, but you cannot make out an image through it, as it has a milky, diffuse look. That is how it differs from the Clear range, which is as clear as glass. The translucent version looks convincing everywhere a plastic or rubber hose runs on the real machine and you do not want the effect of clean glass.

Use

• Fuel and brake lines on models of motorcycles and racing cars: of the diameters offered, 1.0 mm is the largest, so it suits these thicker lines rather than fine wiring.
• Lines for oil and coolant around the engine.
• Wiring, cables, control cables and other lines in the engine bay.
• A replacement for unconvincing plastic parts from a kit: a tube run in a real curve looks a class better than a rigid plastic molding.
• It combines with fittings, clips and unions, or with wire threaded inside to hold its shape.
