A fence is among the elements that can turn an ordinary vignette into a story. The Wood fence ver.A set from the manufacturer Firma49 portrays an enclosure of wooden pickets in 1:35 scale, that is, in the format that most military equipment and figures on the market correspond to. It is not a separate model but a scenic extra that will define a yard, a garden or the edge of a village road. It is precisely small items of this type that decide whether a scene comes across as alive or merely as a base with a model on it.
First give the pickets a base in the shade of faded wood, then apply brown-gray washes and set the individual slats apart from one another with a lighter drybrush. If you want the structure of the wood more faithful still, scratch fine grooves along the direction of the grain with a pin. Partly knocking a few pickets over is striking too, as the fence then tells of the fighting that swept past it.
The manufacturer also makes a second execution designated ver.B, and the two enclosures complement each other naturally in a scene.
