A single-sided Art Scale masking set in 1:48 for the Su-22M3 and Su-22M4 makes covering the glazing easier when painting a model. Meant for the Kitty Hawk kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package holds a painting aid, not an aircraft. The parts follow the shape of the frames on the glazing of the Kitty Hawk kit. The single-sided version deals with the outer surface, that is the one the top coat is applied to.
On this type the glazing has a busy frame, and tape cut by hand easily ripples on the curves. Pre-shaped parts keep the frame the same width along its whole length, so even from close up there is no impression of a crooked line. On a more complex canopy the time saved on cutting runs into hours.
The Sukhoi Su-22 is the export form of the Su-17 fighter-bomber with variable geometry on the outer wing panels. The M4 form was among the most modern and served, among others, with the Czechoslovak Air Force, where it replaced older types in the ground support role. The machines were built for low-level flying with stores under the fuselage and under the fixed part of the wing.
Clear the base of dust, fit the parts and run a blunt edge along the rim. Dose the paint in thin coats and let them flash off. Remove the parts at a shallow angle, not straight out from the surface. Finally, look along the frames against the light and tidy up any overrun with a point.
