Molybdenum grease for the moving parts of models, for gears and for pivots.
Responsibility details are not available.
Grease containing molybdenum is used in modeling wherever something turns or rubs: in gearboxes, on gear wheels, in bearings and on the pivots of moving parts. The molybdenum in the grease keeps the lubricating film even under pressure, so that the joint does not run dry and wears less. It therefore suits models that really move, not ones that only stand in a display case.
It is applied in a small amount, ideally with a wooden stick, a match or a thin tool, directly onto the place that is to be lubricated. A thick layer does not help, quite the opposite: the excess spreads, catches dust, and the abrasive particles then do exactly the reverse of what you wanted. Wipe the surplus grease off, therefore, and once the joint is assembled turn it over several times so that the layer spreads. On a new mechanism it is better to apply the grease before you cover it with further parts.
The grease does not belong on surfaces intended for gluing or for painting, because there it reliably prevents adhesion. Clean your hands and tools after the work, so that you do not carry the grease onto the model. The manufacturer gives the suitability for a particular material and the recommended amount on the packaging.
For modelers who build moving mechanisms and for owners of models with gears. Tools and an applicator are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
