1:72 Handley-Page Halifax Mk.II in 138 Squadron RAF / Part II is a sheet of wet decals for the four-engine Halifax bomber in the strength of No. 138 Squadron RAF.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from the AML Decals brand is intended for a model of the four-engine Handley Page Halifax bomber in the Mk.II version in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit: you get a sheet of decals with which you add markings to a model that is already built or part-built. The second part of the series follows on from an earlier set devoted to the same unit.
Alongside the Lancaster the Halifax was one of the main British heavy bombers of the Second World War. The Mk.II version had Rolls-Royce Merlin engines and came about in several batches, which differed in the shape of the nose, in the turrets and in the exhausts. The machines of No. 138 Squadron RAF did not fly the usual bombing raids: the squadron was set aside for special duties over occupied Europe, that is for supply drops and for inserting agents. Its aircraft therefore wore dark night schemes and inconspicuous markings of a kind not seen with ordinary bomber units.
Prepare a smooth gloss base under the decals, otherwise a silvery veil will appear under the film. Trim the motif as close as possible, soak it in lukewarm water and move it into place with a soft brush. A softener will help it settle, and on broken-up surfaces and rivets it is often needed twice. Once it is dry, spray over it with a matte or semi-gloss varnish according to the surface of the model.
The decals are an accessory for a model; the package contains neither the aircraft itself nor paints.
