The 1:35 M2 Ammunition Cans for Browning M2 .50 cal Machine Gun – WWII version – OPENED set from MASTER brings ammunition cans with the lid open.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a vehicle kit but small accessories for a scene and for models of combat vehicles. The name of this item explicitly gives the form with the lid swung open, so the cans look ready for a belt to be fed in. The Second World War version and the figure of six pieces are mentioned as well.
The metal M2 can was the standard container for the ammunition belt of the Browning M2 12.7 mm heavy machine gun. It was carried on turret brackets, on fenders, in racks beside mounts and loose on the bed, and that is why it appears on practically every American vehicle from the 1940s on. The swung-open lid reveals the inside and the fitted belt, which looks livelier on a model than a closed box and at the same time gives away that the crew was just replenishing ammunition.
Place them so that they make operational sense: by the mount, in places with brackets, not at random all over the bed. Level the seating surface, otherwise the box hangs in the air and that shows during painting. The metal of the cans is best shaded in a darker olive than the rest of the vehicle, because ammunition containers were painted separately and aged differently. Rub the edges of the lid and the handle with a gentle abrasion, run a thin wash into the engraved lettering on the side and add dust from below.
The accessories are supplied without paints and glue. Neither the vehicle nor the machine gun is included in the package.
