A masking set for the glazing of the Avro Anson T.21 and C.19 aircraft, for the Valom kit in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Avro Anson was a British twin-engine aircraft that stayed in service for many years and went through a string of modifications. The C.19 and T.21 versions belong to its postwar form and served for transport and communications duties and for crew training. What they share is extensive cabin glazing, which is the most patient work in building the model.
The set holds masking parts for the glazing, shaped for the Valom kit in 1:72 scale. Instead of cutting strips of tape by hand, you stick down ready-made shapes that follow the frames of the glazing. The boundary between glass and frame then comes out crisp even where the individual panes are tiny and there are many of them side by side. On a cabin with that many panes it saves several hours of work.
First wash and degrease the clear parts. Lay the masks on the dry surface before spraying and press them down all around with a toothpick, so that no paint creeps under the edge. Spray in several thin coats and let them set between applications; one heavy coat creeps more easily. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has dried, pulling at a shallow angle to the surface. The longer they stay on the model, the harder they are to remove.
The set will be appreciated by anyone building the Anson in 1:72 scale who does not want to spend an evening cutting tape. A crisp transition between glass and frame does more for the final impression than most small accessories. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
