This MH models set captures the ALQ-184 external jamming pod in 1:72 scale, and that in the longer of the variants made. According to the name it was carried by the A-10, F-4G, F-16 and C-130. It is an accessory to a model of an aircraft; the machine itself is not in the package and has to be obtained separately.
The ALQ-184 came about as a markedly improved successor to the older pod of the ALQ-119 series. It received a new antenna array and more effective jamming equipment, thanks to which it could work against several threats at once. The longer version offered more room for equipment and was common mainly on machines intended for the suppression of air defenses, that is on tasks where the crew's survival depended on the quality of the jamming.
The pod is fairly long, so it pays to dry-fit it and see whether, once hung, it collides with the landing gear doors or with a neighboring store. Level the seams and the parting surfaces before you reach for the paint. Machines in service tended to have their pods in a shade different from the aircraft, which is a small thing that gives a finished model credibility almost for nothing. Let a photograph of the particular machine always be your guide.
