An assembly model of the Ural-375S off-road semi-tractor. Unlike the flatbed forms of the same family it has no cargo bed but a fifth wheel for a trailer, so it fills a different role in a collection: it is a vehicle built as the basis of a rig, or alternatively as a tractor on its own, on which the whole frame and running gear show beautifully. 1:43 scale matches ordinary collector models of cars and trucks.
The Ural-375 was a three-axle off-road truck with all-wheel drive that became one of the pillars of the Soviet vehicle fleet for work away from roads. The variant marked with the letter S is its tractor form: instead of a load floor it carries a fifth wheel and is intended for pulling trailers off made-up routes as well. A short rear overhang and the exposed frame behind the cab are the identifying marks of this version.
On a tractor the frame is exposed, so it pays to build and paint it before the cab comes into play. Details such as the tank, the exhaust and the spare wheel come out well if you paint them separately and only then seat them. For the color scheme, a combination of a uniform cab shade and a slightly darker chassis works, together with greasy traces around the fifth wheel, where in service there is always grease. Wheels with a coarse tread deserve a light dusting, so that the vehicle does not look as if it came off a show stand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
