Zoukei-Mura 1:32 Douglas AD-6 (A-1H) Skyraider is an extensive injection-molded plastic kit of the propeller attack aircraft made famous in Vietnam. It contains the complete internal structure and all fifteen hardpoints for armament.

An injection-molded plastic kit of the Douglas AD-6 (A-1H) Skyraider in 1:32 from the Japanese manufacturer Zoukei-Mura, a modern mold of 2024. The manufacturer states roughly 480 parts. The Super Wing Series line rests on the principle of building an aircraft the way the real one is built: in the box there is not only a shell but also the internal structure, bulkheads, the engine section, fuel tanks, radio equipment and a detailed cockpit. All 15 hardpoints are rendered (one under the fuselage and seven under each wing half). The package includes a masking sheet and decals for four machines of the US Navy. Photo-etch is offered by the manufacturer separately and is not in the basic box.
The Skyraider is one of the most interesting stories in the history of aviation: a single-engined propeller attack aircraft that fought in the age of jet fighters. It came about at the very end of the Second World War, but made its name only in Vietnam. It was slow, and that was exactly its greatest strength. It could circle over the battlefield for hours, support ground units precisely and escort rescue helicopters picking up downed crews, which a jet with its fuel consumption could never have managed. Thanks to its powerful radial engine it carried a load of armament greater than many a bomber of the Second World War. The AD-6 version, later redesignated A-1H, was the single-seat attack variant.
In 1:32 it is a large model; reckon with room in a display case and on the workbench. It is built in layers: first the inside, then the skin, so paint as you go. It pays to bring out the engine and the cockpit with a wash and dry brushing. Use a thin cement for plastic applied by capillary action and a primer; apply the decals onto gloss varnish. With this manufacturer a build with open panels or an exposed engine section is popular, so that the internal structure can be seen.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
