Double-sided set of masking parts for the glazing of the F-104A/C Starfighter model in 1:48 scale, shaped for the kit from the Kinetic company.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-104 Starfighter was an American supersonic fighter recognizable at first glance by its slender fuselage and short thin wings. The A and C versions were single-seat and served with the US Air Force. The set of masks is intended for a model of these versions in 1:48 scale and is shaped for the kit from the Kinetic company.
Shaped masking parts for the cockpit glazing in a double-sided rendition, that is for the outer as well as the inner side of the canopy. The cockpit frames can thus be painted from both sides, which shows well on the narrow canopy of the Starfighter. A named breakdown of the parts and their placement is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Wash and degrease the glazing before work, otherwise the masks will not hold and the paint will creep underneath. Lift the individual parts with tweezers, lay them on dry and press them down with a soft tool all the way around. Masking is done before spraying. Apply the paint in several light coats; one heavy coat will leave a conspicuous step at the edge of the mask. Lift the masks shortly after the paint has dried and pull them at an angle across the edge, so that the varnished edge does not lift.
It suits anyone who does not want to cut tape for the narrow cockpit frames by hand and wants a crisp line. The shapes are tied to the named kit; with a model from another maker count on them possibly not fitting. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
