The YPB-15, the widest size in the series

The most substantial tool in the whole WING range has a working width of 1.5 mm and is made of tungsten steel. It is used differently from the fine sizes: it does not draw a line but removes material and shapes the gap between two surfaces. The volume taken off is noticeably greater with every stroke, which calls for a steady hand and secure support.

What a size like this is for

It suits best the widening of a gap that already exists, the creation of a deep space between the armor elements of robot subjects and the preparation of a groove into which a separately made detail will later be set. It also serves when working on diorama bases, where gaps between panels and paving slabs are shaped into plastic or foam.

What to remember

• Remove the material in layers, never in one deep pass.
• Secure the work so that the part cannot turn.
• Compare the two sides as you go so that the gap stays symmetrical.
• Level the finished cut with a strip of abrasive paper.
• On soft materials reduce the pressure, otherwise the edge will fray.

Features and clamping

A tool of hard material keeps its shape even when a larger quantity of material is taken off. It will handle styrene moldings, ABS plastic, hard resin and 3D prints as well. It is inserted into a holder by a shank of 3.175 mm diameter; the holder itself does not come with the delivery and is chosen according to your own needs and the size of your hand.
