A set of six GBU-22 bombs with third-generation guidance on the Mk.82 body, completed by two pylons and two triple adapters, 1:48 scale. Decals enclosed.
Responsibility details are not available.
Whereas an older guidance kit steers a bomb by plain deflections and descends to the target along a zigzag path, the newer generation can plan the flight. It is able to attack from a steep as well as a shallow angle and copes better when the laser mark is lost for a moment. This variant is built on a lighter body, so it joins the precision of a larger weapon with a caliber that suits a built-up area.
The package covers the need of one aircraft on two inner stations: six bombs in 1:48 scale, two pylons and two triple adapters. The enclosed sheet of decals carries technical lettering. On a model it fills a role that paint cannot take on, namely it betrays that these are real munitions and not a smooth body.
It is advisable first to check whether all the guidance surfaces are cast without bubbles, and only then to separate the parts. The assembly holds on cyanoacrylate glue, which is applied in the minimum amount, otherwise it fills the seam and the edge loses its sharpness.
The lettering is applied only onto a clear-coated surface; on matte paint a glossy frame would stay around it.
A trio hung side by side stands very close, so before gluing it pays to try dry whether the bombs do not rest against one another with their fins. Any overlap can be leveled with a file before painting.
