Figures of British Expeditionary Force infantry on the march, in 1:48 scale. The first set of the line.
Responsibility details are not available.
The British Expeditionary Force was the formation Britain sent to France at the beginning of the Second World War. Its soldiers spent most of their time moving and building positions, and when the withdrawal to the coast came they covered long distances on foot. A marching infantryman is therefore more characteristic of this period than a soldier in combat.
British infantry of the day can be told at first glance by the helmet with its wide brim and by the short-cut field blouse, which went with a webbing carrying system with pouches for magazines. The equipment was whitened with a coating before parade, so the webbing had a different tone from the uniform and on a figure it pays to set it apart.
Figures of British infantry in a marching stance in 1:48 scale. The designation of the first set suggests that this is the opening part of a line on the same subject, so they can be combined with others into a longer column. They come into their own with vehicles and hardware of the same scale and in a tableau of their own on a country road.
Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down; at this scale the parts are small, so work over a light surface. Wash and degrease them before painting. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts; the procedure is given in the manufacturer's instructions. Thin the paint more than on larger figures so that it does not clog the fine relief, and keep the shading gentle: in 1:48 scale strong contrast looks unnatural. Khaki with a brownish cast suits the uniform, and a lighter shade the webbing.
The figures are supplied to be assembled and painted. Paints, glue, vehicles and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
