An unpainted figure of a French crew for Laffly vehicles of 1940, scale 1:48. The first item of the range.
Responsibility details are not available.
The French units of 1940 relied on motor transport more than is usually recalled, and Laffly supplied cross-country vehicles for it: artillery tractors, liaison and reconnaissance vehicles and weapon carriers. A vehicle without people reads in a diorama like an exhibit; as soon as a crew is added to it, the scene begins to tell what is going on. Crew figures are therefore the quickest way to give a model of French 1940 vehicles both scale and life.
A figure of a French crewman in 1:48 scale, supplied unpainted. The order number in the name tells the individual items within the range apart, so they can be obtained step by step and a whole vehicle crew put together from them. A figure one hundred and seventy-five centimeters tall in reality measures about three and a half centimeters in 1:48 scale.
Before you reach for the glue, stand the figure in its place dry and check that it does not clash with the equipment of the vehicle and that it comes down over its whole surface. Cut off the surplus material with a sharp blade a little away from the figure and sand the remainder gently; it does not pay off to file the places the body will cover once it is settled. Wash and degrease the surface before painting, apply the paint in thin layers and settle the shadows with a dark wash. Tune the shade of the uniform with the other figures at the same vehicle, so that they hold together.
For modelers who build French vehicles of 1940 in 1:48 scale and want a crew to go with them, and for builders of dioramas. Paints, glue and brushes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
