Replacement pylons for a model of the American Douglas A-1 Skyraider attack aircraft in the medium scale. They replace the matching parts of the kit, which the modeler obtains separately. They are made by Quickboost.
The Skyraider is famous for the number of hardpoints under its wing and fuselage, and it is those that decide how a model looks with its ordnance loaded. In plastic they tend to be thicker and less well shaped, because they have to survive handling in the mold and the trip off the sprue. A more accurate rendering evens out the spacing, and the load under the wing then sits the way it should. On a model with a full weapons load the difference is obvious at first glance.
The Douglas A-1 Skyraider was a single-seat carrier attack aircraft with a piston radial engine, created at the very end of the Second World War and still in service in the 1970s. It could carry an exceptional load of bombs and rockets and could stay over the battlefield for long hours, which made it an ideal machine for close support of troops. It proved itself in Korea and above all in Vietnam, where besides attacking it escorted rescue helicopters recovering downed airmen.
