A set for covering the landing gear bays of the wide-body A-1E Skyraider, factory designation AD-5, in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking aid prepared for the landing gear bays of the version with side-by-side seating. It serves to keep the inner coat separated from the upper color and to make the boundary between them look as crisp as on the real machine.
While the ordinary versions had a narrow fuselage with a single pilot, the AD-5 form got a wider fuselage with a pair of side-by-side seats and a bay into which practically anything could be loaded. That produced machines for night attack, electronic reconnaissance, training, casualty evacuation and ordinary bombing. After American designations were unified in 1962 this variant became the A-1E, and it was under that designation that it made its name with the US Air Force over Southeast Asia. The best-known episode remains the landing by Major Bernard Fisher in the A Shau valley in March 1966, during which he picked up a downed colleague straight off a strip under fire.
The inner surfaces deserve attention before the fuselage: lay on the light or protective shade, let it cure, close the areas off and carry on with the camouflage. On the versions used over Southeast Asia it is worth allowing for heavy soiling around the bays from oil and dust, which can be suggested with a wash at the very end.
