A resin detail set in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Quickboost (the Aires brand). This is not an aircraft kit but an accurate replacement for the tail wheel of a plastic model of the American Douglas A-1H Skyraider ground-attack aircraft. The part is finely cast with convincing relief on the tire and the fork, so it replaces the simplified plastic part from the box and sharpens up the tail end of the landing gear.
The Douglas A-1 Skyraider was an American piston-engined ground-attack and attack aircraft that proved itself well into the jet age, above all as persistent support for troops on the ground. As an aircraft with a conventional tailwheel landing gear it had a small tail wheel, one of the characteristic details of its rear end.
Wash the mold release residue off the resin part, carefully cut off the casting block and dry-fit it; bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Protect your airways when sanding resin. Set the tire off in matte black against the metallic fork, a light wash will bring out the relief and drybrushing will pick out the edges and the wear.
This is a resin detail set, not a kit. Paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package.
