1:48 A-26C-15 Invader: a set of masks for the variant that carried a glazed station with a bombsight in the nose. Intended for the ICM kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set for the variant with a glazed nose. Besides the canopy over the crew, the markedly subdivided front of the forward station, assembled from flat panes, also has to be covered. The set is designed for the ICM kit.
The letter C distinguished the Invader with a glazed nose, in which a crew member with a bombsight had his place. Such a machine led the formation over the target and the other aircraft dropped their load on his command, while the variants with a solid nose concentrated on gunfire. Both forms were built side by side and were commonly mixed within units; some examples even had the nose swapped at the unit itself. The glazing of the nose was assembled from flat panes, because curved glass would have distorted the view for the bombsight, and the designers chose the same solution on other bombing aircraft of the period.
The front of the nose has sharp transitions between the individual panes, where tape applied by hand holds worst. Pre-cut pieces solve that problem, but it pays to check that no uncovered gap has been left between neighboring areas. Spray the frames lightly, so that their edges are not raised above the plane of the glass. Then uncover from the largest panes to the smallest.
