Masks for spraying the Japanese national insignia on a model of the Mitsubishi A5M2b or A5M4 in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mitsubishi A5M was a Japanese carrier fighter aircraft of the second half of the 1930s, a cantilever low-wing monoplane with fixed landing gear. The Allies later assigned it the code name Claude. The designations A5M2b and A5M4 belong to later series of the same type, so one sheet covers both.
Masks for spraying the national insignia in 1:48 scale. A sprayed marking has several advantages over a decal: it has no carrier film, it does not shine on matte paint, there is no risk of silvering with it, and it takes later weathering and glazing just like the surrounding paint. The extent of the sheet and the layout of the individual pieces are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The mask is stuck onto a finished and dried base coat, that is still before the paint of the marking and never after it. The surface has to be clean and degreased, or the edge will not take hold and the paint will run under. Transfer the pieces with tweezers and press the edges down with a toothpick, especially where the area is not flat. Spray the paint in several light coats perpendicular to the mask, not at an angle under it. Take the mask off while the paint is still fresh, pulling it back over itself at an acute angle.
Masks are supplied. A model, paints, decals and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
