A resin detail set containing a faithfully cast ACES II ejection seat in the version for the American fifth-generation F/A-22A Raptor fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory that replaces the simplified seat from a plastic kit with a casting that renders the cushions, the mechanism and the headrest. Aires seats usually also include fine photo-etch for the straps and the release handles. Once painted, it markedly enlivens the space of an open cockpit.
The ACES II seat is the standard American ejection seat used in a whole range of combat aircraft of the US Air Force. In the version for the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor it serves in the cockpit of a fifth-generation stealth fighter. A faithful seat is one of the first details to catch the eye in an open cockpit.
First wash the seat to remove mold release residue and only then glue and paint it. Cut off the casting block carefully with a saw and sand the cut surface. Bond the resin with super glue (cyanoacrylate): ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on resin. The photo-etched straps take on a very realistic look once shaped and painted. Sand wet and protect your airways.
This is a resin accessory, not a model or a stand-alone kit. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
