A set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks for the glazing of a model of the Aero L-29 Delfin jet trainer in 1:48 scale from Art Scale. This is neither a kit nor decals but an accessory for the build. Single-sided means that the masks cover the outside of the clear parts, that is the side you see on a finished model. The Delfin has two cockpits one behind the other and canopies with pronounced framing, so the number of straight and curved fields that have to be sprayed is considerable, and the pre-cut shape saves a great deal of time here. The masks are cut to the outline of the AMK kit and may not fit a kit from another manufacturer.
The Aero L-29 Delfin is a Czechoslovak two-seat jet trainer that first flew at the end of the 1950s and became the basic training aircraft of a number of Eastern Bloc states. It was powered by a single Motorlet M-701 turbojet, the crew sat in tandem, and the instructor in the rear had a good forward view thanks to a raised seat. The aircraft was known for undemanding handling, rugged construction and the ability to operate from grass surfaces. More than three thousand were built and the machines were exported to many countries. It can be built in dozens of color schemes, from silver trainers to colorful civil finishes.
Degrease the clear part and let it dry. Lift the masks off the sheet with tweezers or the point of a scalpel and seat them on the glass so that they line up with the engraved frame. Push the air out from the center and press the edges down with a wooden toothpick. Apply the paint in thin coats; with two cockpits it is a good idea to mask both at once and spray them together, so that the frames end up the same shade. Lift the masks shortly after the paint has dried, pulling them back over themselves at a shallow angle. Any adhesive residue comes off with lukewarm water.
This is an add-on mask set, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
