A training Alpha Jet with the code E25 in the commemorative finish for a million hours flown on this type, 2008. Decals in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The light jet trainer and light strike machine came out of French and German cooperation in the 1970s and became a textbook for whole generations of military pilots. The version designated by the letter E serves in France for advanced training, and it was with it that the milestone of a million hours flown fell in 2008. The example with the number E25 received a striking commemorative finish for the occasion, part of which is the abbreviation of the advanced jet training school.
The sheet brings lettering with the figure for the hours flown, striking areas on the fuselage and the fin, roundels, the training designation and the number of the machine. There is no shortage of small lettering for the area around the cabin, the air intakes and the landing gear bays.
Decals age even when they lie in a sealed bag. If a sheet has been waiting for some time, hold it up to the light to see whether the print has cracked; small cracks are saved by a thin coat of clear varnish applied over the whole sheet and left to dry overnight. Only then is it cut and soaked.
Training machines tend to be kept in clean paint without scrapes, so a restrained emphasis of the panels looks better on a model than coarse soiling; striking motifs would disappear on an excessively battered surface. Even so it is worth suggesting the marks of being walked on at the wing root and darker streaks behind the air outlet from the landing gear bay, because even a carefully maintained aircraft has these details after a few weeks of operation. Let the rest of the airframe stay clean and smooth.
