A set of resin castings of the American N-3A/B reflector gunsight in 1:48 scale from the Quickboost brand. The package contains six pieces, so it will do for several models or serve as a reserve for a small part. It is not an aircraft model but an accurate cockpit accessory for experienced modelers that replaces the simplified gunsight from a kit with a fine casting with a faithful shape of the body and the reflector glass.
The N-3 family of reflector gunsights was among the most widespread American aircraft gunsights of the Second World War and was fitted in a range of fighters and attack aircraft of the US Army Air Forces, for example the P-51 Mustang, the P-47 Thunderbolt, the P-40 Warhawk and the P-38 Lightning. It projected an aiming pattern onto a glass plate and made aiming the fixed guns easier.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue. Separate the small castings carefully from the casting blocks with a sharp knife and clean up the surfaces; protect your airways when sanding resin. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Spray the body in a dark shade and suggest the reflector glass with a glossy transparent layer. Because the parts are so small, work over a tray.
It is supplied as an unpainted resin accessory for completing a model. Glue, paints and the model itself are not included in the package.
