A set of painting masks for a model of the Curtiss AT-9 Jeep trainer in 1:48 scale, cut for the Dora Wings kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Curtiss AT-9 Jeep was an American twin-engine trainer from the period of the Second World War. It served to convert pilots from single-engine machines to twin-engine combat types, so a whole range of later bomber and fighter crews met it. Compared with combat aircraft it is a less usual subject, and that is exactly what makes it interesting on a display table.
Painting masks for a model of the AT-9 in 1:48 scale, cut for the kit from the Dora Wings brand. The parts are finished to shape, so there is no laborious cutting of tape and measuring by eye. The extent of the set and the placement of the individual masks are given in the manufacturer's instructions; follow them when applying the masks.
The masks are applied before spraying, onto a dry, clean and degreased surface. Once applied, press the edges down with a blunt point, so that no paint creeps under them. Apply the paint in several thin layers; one thick layer creates a pronounced step at the edge of the mask. Take the mask off as soon as the paint is dry to the touch, and pull it back over itself at a shallow angle rather than straight up. Any remains of adhesive on the model can be removed with a cotton swab dampened in water with detergent.
The set suits modelers who build the AT-9 from the Dora Wings kit and want the transitions between colors sharp. Working with ready-made masks is quicker and more reliable than masking with ordinary tape, especially on the small shapes of 1:48 scale.
The model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
