Templates for covering the glazing of the Supermarine Attacker FB.2 carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. The package has two films: the outer one covers the canopy frames from above, the inner one covers the panes from the opposite side. The cut is figured for the mold by the brand Trumpeter and concerns the glazing only.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Attacker is a curious hybrid of two eras. It borrowed its wing from the piston-engined Spiteful, that is from the end of the Spitfire line of development, but into the fuselage it received a Nene jet engine. The result was a fighter with tailwheel landing gear, which on a jet aircraft looked archaic even then and meant an unpleasantly high nose attitude during the takeoff run. It appeared in the armament of the Fleet Air Arm in 1951 and became the very first jet type to serve with it in operational squadrons. The version designated as fighter-bomber carried armament under the wing for attacks on ground targets. Its career with carrier units was short, as more modern types soon replaced it, but some of the machines flew out their lives with the Pakistan Navy.
A model with a tailwheel stands on the table at a pronounced angle, so the whole cockpit canopy is visible from above and its framing becomes the dominant feature of the upper fuselage. An uneven frame line therefore leaps to the eye here more than on an aircraft with a nosewheel. Pre-cut film keeps it straight. It is good practice to spray the frames first in the interior shade, let them dry and only then move on to the top camouflage, so that the transition inside the cockpit is convincing.
