This is a resin accessory for a kit of the Avro Lancaster bomber in 1:48 scale. According to the name the set concerns the heating system of the aircraft, that is, the elements that in a base kit tend to be simplified or missing altogether. Accessories of this kind suit above all a case where the inside of the fuselage is to be visible: with open hatches, uncovered panels and diorama scenes.
The Lancaster was a British four-engine heavy bomber with a long, largely unheated fuselage. The warm air ducting and the associated pipework belonged to the equipment that is visible on a model only once the fuselage is opened up, but a detail like that is all the more rewarding when looking into the interior. The arrangement differed between versions and production batches, so it pays to compare the set with documentation for the version you are building.
Wash the parts first in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap to get rid of the remains of release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine-toothed saw and sand the surface wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), as cement for plastic will not join resin. Paint and weather the interior parts before closing the fuselage up; afterward you will not get to them. A dark wash and light drybrushing will bring out the shapes, and fine edge wear will suggest use.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, which it does not replace. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
