An accessory set for the interior of the waist gun positions of the B-17 bomber, for the Monogram kit in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress is an American four-engine heavy bomber of the Second World War. Roughly halfway along the fuselage, behind the wing, sat a pair of waist gun positions: two gunners stood facing each other at mounts in the side openings and covered the machine from the flanks. It was the tightest and least protected section of the whole aircraft, full of stiffeners, boxes and runs of wiring. That is exactly why the waist positions are often opened up on models and why they are worth the attention.
An accessory set for the waist gun section of a B-17 model in 1:48 scale. It is cut for the Monogram kit, so the shapes and dimensions follow its parts. The scope of the set, the number of parts and the fitting procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The parts are not polystyrene, ordinary modeling cement has no effect on them, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Cut off surplus material and traces of manufacture with a sharp blade a short distance from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so as not to wipe away the fine relief. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will peel off. Paint and shade the whole section before you close the fuselage, because once the halves are joined you will not reach it again. Dry fit the assembly before the glue takes hold, so that the shape of the fuselage stays true.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
