This set from the SPACE range is intended for a model of the Consolidated B-24D Liberator in 1:48 scale. The B-24D was the first version of this four-engine bomber with a high-mounted wing and twin tails to be built in large numbers. A model of such an aircraft has many glazed and instrument areas, which is where relief detail pays off most. The SPACE range uses color decals with a three-dimensional relief for this, lifted with tweezers from the moistened backing paper.
The backing is thicker than on thin wet decals, because it carries the raised structure. That creates a real shadow on a surface and keeps it from looking merely painted. At the same time it means that a decal settles less well into a deep recess or over a sharp edge and that it tolerates less chemistry than a thin print. On a large model, therefore, plan the areas out in advance and apply them in sections.
The set is an accessory, not a kit. The base model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
