A masking set in 1:48 scale for a model of the B-26B-50 Invader attack aircraft. The pieces are cut to shape in advance and are stuck onto the model before spraying.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas B-26 Invader was a twin-engine piston attack aircraft. It went into production during the Second World War under the designation A-26 and after 1948 was redesignated B-26, under which it still served in Korea. The B version had a solid nose with gun armament in place of a glazed one; the number after the version designation distinguishes the production block.
The set contains masking pieces cut for a model in 1:48 scale. They cover the places that are to stay free of paint while spraying, above all the canopy glazing. Compared with cutting tape by hand it saves time mainly on divided glazing with many frames, and the transition between the paint and the clear part comes out crisp.
The masks are stuck on before painting, onto a dry, degreased surface. Press each piece down all the way round so that paint cannot creep under the edge, and spray in several thinner coats rather than one thick one. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has dried, best of all with tweezers and an angled pull across the edge.
It suits modelers who spray with an airbrush and want clean edges with no laborious masking. The kit whose shapes the pieces are cut to is given in the manufacturer's instructions, so before sticking a mask on compare its shape with the part on the model.
The package contains masking pieces only. The model, the paints and the glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
