A model of the Bayraktar TB2 unmanned vehicle in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Black Dog. It is a resin kit for experienced modelers, not an injection-molded plastic kit. Resin makes finer surface detail possible, but it makes different demands on the preparation of the parts and on gluing.
The Bayraktar TB2 is a Turkish unmanned vehicle of the MALE category, that is a machine for long endurance at medium altitude. Characteristic is the design with a high-set straight wing, a pair of tail booms and a piston engine with a pusher propeller at the rear. It takes off from and lands on a classic runway and is controlled from a ground station. Under the wing it carries an electro-optical observation turret and racks for light guided munitions, thanks to which it serves both for reconnaissance and for direct commitment. The type is operated in a number of countries and since the second half of the last decade it has been among the most widespread machines of its category.
First wash the resin parts in warm water with dish soap, so that the remains of the mold release agent are removed, as otherwise neither paint nor glue will hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc, and never break them off. Sanding has to be done wet and with protection for your airways. Gluing is done with super glue, that is cyanoacrylate; ordinary glue for polystyrene does not work here. Before painting, apply a primer, which will even the surface out and reveal the remaining shortcomings. Fit the slender booms and the propeller only at the end of the build.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted as a resin kit. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
