Eduard TFace masks for the glazing of a Bristol Beaufighter Mk.X model in 1:48 scale. A double-sided set for the outer as well as the inner side of the glazing, an accessory to a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set from the Czech maker Eduard for a model of the twin-engined Bristol Beaufighter Mk.X aircraft in 1:48 scale. The TFace form sets the extent: the package holds masks for the outer as well as the inner side of the glazing, so the frames have the right shade from both points of view. The set is tied to this version of the aircraft, as the glazing differs between the individual forms of the Beaufighter, which is why masks for the Mk.X and for earlier versions are listed separately. It is not a model but an accessory to a kit.
The Bristol Beaufighter was a British twin-engined two-seat aircraft with radial engines. The Mk.X version was meant above all for naval strike tasks and flew at low level over the sea, which the tuning of its powerplants matched. Models of this version are often built in naval camouflage with a pronounced boundary between shades, so cleanly unmasked glazing has a great effect on the result.
Wash and degrease the glazed parts. Lift the masks with tweezers, seat them dry and press the edge down with a toothpick. With two separate glazed assemblies it pays to work on one at a time and to keep checking that you do not swap the pieces. Apply and paint the inner masks before the fuselage is closed. Paint the outside in thin coats and lift the tape off shortly after it has set, so that the edge of the finish is not torn away.
The package holds only masks. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it.
