An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Czech brand Kovozavody Prostejov. The subtitle Over Egypt marks out the focus of the boxing on machines operating in the Egyptian area; it is exactly in this that this release differs from the other boxings of the F.6 version. The particular contents of the package, the number of parts and the number of marking schemes are stated on the packaging of the kit.
The Hawker Tempest came out of the Typhoon, from which it is set apart by a new wing of thin laminar profile. The Mk.VI variant, redesignated after the war as the F.6, was tropicalized; it was given a reworked arrangement of radiators so that it could handle operation in a hot and dusty climate. That is precisely why these machines were used in the postwar service of the Royal Air Force (RAF) in the Middle East and North Africa. Operations in a desert environment left marked traces on the airplanes: dust settled in the panel lines, scoured leading edges and faded paint.
Proceed with dry checks as you go, as on short-run kits it usually pays off to tune the mating surfaces by fine sanding. Glue with a thin capillary cement for polystyrene and finish the cockpit while still before closing the fuselage up. Apply a primer before painting. Spray with an airbrush from the darker tones to the lighter ones and brighten the upper surfaces slightly; desert schemes respond to that very rewardingly. Build the weathering up sparingly: a wash into the engraved lines, a fine filter to even things out and finally a light pigment on the lower part of the fuselage and the landing gear. Under the decals lay on a gloss varnish compatible with the paint used, and once it is dry go back over it with matte.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
