A printed resin cockpit set for a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-10 fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bf 109G-10 is one of the late versions of the German Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter of the end of the Second World War. It was powered by the liquid-cooled inverted V12 Daimler-Benz engine of the DB 605 series, completed by performance modifications with which the shape of the cowlings on the nose also changed. Machines produced at different plants differed in detail, so during the build it pays to compare the model with a photograph of a particular aircraft.
The set brings a cockpit printed in resin, that is a replacement for the parts from the kit. Printing can render features that cannot be produced in injection-molded plastic, that is fine linkages as well as surface texture. The exact extent of the parts and the procedure for fitting them are described by the instructions supplied by the manufacturer.
The printed parts are held on thin print supports. Cut them off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the detail stays intact. The material is more brittle than plastic, so work calmly and without pressure. It is glued with super glue, as ordinary cement for polystyrene has no effect. Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water so that any print resin residue disappears, and let them dry. Fit the cockpit before gluing the fuselage together and try everything dry first.
The set is for modelers who want an open cockpit on the Bf 109G-10 at a level of detail that a kit does not offer. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
