This item is not an aircraft kit, but a narrowly focused detail accessory: resin castings of the exhausts for a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109G in 1:48 scale from the Czech brand Eduard. The castings replace the plastic parts from a kit and offer finer detail and crisper edges than an injection mold usually reaches in this spot. On a model of a single-engine fighter the exhausts are exposed to the eye, so replacing them makes a marked difference. You will find the contents of the set in the enclosed instructions.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109G was a German single-seat fighter of the second half of the Second World War, powered by a liquid-cooled inverted V12. The exhaust stacks projected on both sides of the forward fuselage below the engine cowling and, over the course of production, they differed from one batch to another in their design and in whether they were fitted with sheet metal flame damper shrouds. It is precisely because of that variability that it pays to compare the shape of the parts in the set with the form the machine you are building should have.
Wash the resin parts first in warm soapy water — there is usually a trace of mold release agent on the surface, on which paint would not hold. Cut off the casting blocks with a fine-toothed saw or a cutting disc, not by snapping. When sanding resin, protect your breathing and sand wet, so that the dust does not spread. They are glued exclusively with cyanoacrylate glue, because ordinary plastic cement does not dissolve resin. Exhausts are usually painted in a dark metal shade complemented by rust and a sooty tone toward the rear; support the effect with a pigment applied dry.
This is an accessory for the build, not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
